Su dise\u00f1o en forma de arco de las pesta\u00f1as y la base curvada ejerce progresivamente dos fuerzas distintas en el tornillo cuando la tuerca r\u00e1pida es atornillada: una fuerza radial A producida por la presi\u00f3n de las pesta\u00f1as al fondo del filete y un empuje axial B sobre el flanco del filete resultante de la compresi\u00f3n del arco de su base de apoyo. Para su aplicaci\u00f3n no se requieren utillajes especiales. Es mucho m\u00e1s r\u00e1pida y al ser autoblocante elimina las costosas operaciones de roscado, soldadura o remachado. Tambi\u00e9n permite ensamblajes con elementos fragiles, cristal, pl\u00e1stico o superficies esmaltadas. En estos casos la resiliencia de la tuerca evita fisuras o el da\u00f1ado de las superficies de apoyo. Se autobloquea a un par mucho m\u00e1s peque\u00f1o que las tuercas convencionales debido a su elevado m\u00f3dulo de
